The 1958 Topps baseball card set includes 494 standard size cards, which measure 2½" by 3½". The 1958 Topps baseball cards feature the Sport Magazine All-Star selection series (474-495) as well as the first checklists, which were issued on the back of the team cards. The key rookie cards from this set include #47 Roger Maris, #343 Orlando Cepeda, and #464 Curt Flood to a lesser extent.
Dean's Comments: The 1958 Topps set has rare Yellow and White Letter Variations in the first series, which make the master set difficult and expensive to collect. Some of the mid-series cards are more difficult to find in "Ex/Mt" and higher grades, due to centering issues. The cards with the lighter backgrounds (yellow, blue & pink) often appear a bit dingy or dirty. Caused during the printing process, this flaw is largely forgiven when grading the cards. The 1958 Topps cards of players on the Yankees are the most sought after and sell for a large premuim, when compred to the other teams. The cards of Dodgers and Braves players sell for more modest premuims.
