Baseball Cards - 1949 Bowman
Teams:

The 1949 Bowman Baseball Card Set had 240 cards, with the hard to find high numbers starting at #145.  The cards were again 2 1/16" by 2 1/2" in size.   The 1949 Bowman Set is rich in Hall of Fame Player Rookie Cards, including: #46 Robin Roberts, #50 Jackie Robinson, #84 Roy Campanella, #100 Gil Hodges, #110 Early Wynn.  The 1949 Bowman Rookie Cards in the scarce high number series are #214 Richie Ashburn, #224 Satchell Paige, #226 Duke Snider and #233 Larry Doby.  The other premier card in the 1949 Set is #24 Stan Musial.

With the 1949 Bowman Baseball Cards we see the beginning of the evolution of the modern baseball card.  The 1949 Bowman Baseball Card Set has five times the number of cards that were in the 1948 set.  The 1949 Bowman Baseball Card also featured machined added color photos of the player and is a advancement in appearance when compared with 1948.  The cards continue improve in terms of size, color, beauty and information each year through 1957.
