1964 Topps Stand Ups
The 1964 Topps Stand Ups baseball cards were a series of 77 special die-cut cards. The cards were designed for kids to punch-out the top half of the card background and have the player "stand up" as a room decoration. The 1964 Stand Ups feature the die cut image of the player in front of two color background. The top half of the 1964 Stand Ups is yellow and the bottom half is green. The player's name is printed in red ink at the bottom of the card. Below their name is their position and team name. The lower half of the 1964 Topps Stand Ups also includes a facsimile autograph. Finally, the 1964 Stand Ups are unnumbered with blank backs.
As a die cut card, the 1964 Topps Stand Ups were designed to be cut from their backs. Therefore, this series is extremely difficult to find in high grade conditions. Also increasing the level of difficulty of collecting 1964 Stand Ups is that 22 cards in the series were single printed. The shortprinted cards in this set are Jack Baldschun, Norm Cash, Donn Clendenon, Don Drysdale, Ray Culp, Jesse Gonder, Tony Gonzalez, Frank Howard, Jerry Lumpe, Don Lock, Juan Marichal, Eddie Mathews, Willie McCovey, Albie Pearson, Ed Roebuck, Ron Santo, Warren Spahn, Dick Stuart, Bill White, Billy Williams, Hal Woodeshick and Carl Yastrzemski.
The 1964 Topps Stand Ups were sold in both 1 cent and 5 cent packs, but interestingly, Topps used four different wrapper designs for the packs. Each variation valued the same however.
