1973 Topps Baseball Cards
The 1973 Topps set has 660 standard size cards and was the last baseball card set to be issued in series throughout the season, making it the last of the vintage baseball card sets.
Reducing the number of cards from by 127 from the previous year, the 1973 Topps set has fewer no-name players and had less subsets. To further account for the reduction in cards, the Rookie Stars (601-616) added a third player to the cards and were grouped by position, instead of by team, as they were in the past. The League Leaders Cards (61-68) were crammed with the leaders from both leagues, and the Playoff Highlight cards (201-202) no longer issued cards highlighting each game.
The key rookie cards from this set are #174 Goose Gossage and the high-number #615 Mike Schmidt.
