The 1955 Bowman Football set consists of 160 cards total, each measuring 2 ?? by 3 ??. The set provided a mix of stars and lesser-known players on each of the 12 teams then in the NFL and was the last sports cards issued by the Bowman Gum Co. before being purchased by Topps.
Card fronts feature background colors dependent on the player's team, a large photo of the player surrounded by a white aura, the team name and logo, and the player's name and position.
For the first time since 1951, the card backs are oriented horizontally. The player's name, team, and position are found near the top of the card, with the card number within a football-shaped icon. Notable statistics and a short write-up are below the card number, with the previous season's statistics and sometimes a diagram of a play toward the bottom of the card.
This Near Complete Set / Lot contains no duplicate cards.
