In 1952, The Topps Chewing Gum Co. issued the largest and most popular baseball card set of its time.  This 1952 Topps set consisted of a whopping 407 cards.  The 6th series, which contains cards #311 to #407, was released so late in the season that number of cards in current circlulation today are far less than the cards in the first five series.  

The 1952 Topps set contains the Topps Rookie Cards for some of baseball's greatest players including: #311 Mickey Mantle, #261 Willie Mays, and #407 Ed Mathews.
