Ray Rice

Raymell Mourice "Ray" Rice (born January 22, 1987) is a professional American football running back who is currently a free agent. He played college football for Rutgers University and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He is ranked as the Ravens' second all-time leading rusher behind Jamal Lewis (7,801) with 6,180 yards, and is also second in rushing attempts (1,430) and rushing touchdowns (37), and third in combined touchdowns(43).

Rice was arrested and subsequently indicted for third-degree aggravated assault on March 27, 2014, relating to an incident where he punched his then-fiancée (now wife) in the face. The blow knocked her unconscious. The incident became a prominent controversy after TMZ released a video of the encounter, which led to an NFL policy change regarding how it handles domestic violence cases. Rice's contract was terminated by the Ravens on September 8, 2014, following the release of an additional video of the incident. Rice appealed his indefinite suspension by the NFL in Federal Court, and won. As of December 1, 2014, Rice is a free agent who is eligible to play in the NFL with any team willing to sign him.
