Chris Krug

Everett Ben "Chris" Krug (born December 25, 1939 in Los Angeles, California) is a former Major League Baseball catcher. Krug was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1958.

Krug played in parts of three major league seasons, two (1965 and 1966) with the Chicago Cubs (who drafted him out of the Cardinals' system in the 1964 minor league draft) and one (1969) with the expansion San Diego Padres. He's remembered best for being the first victim as Sandy Koufax struck out the side in the ninth inning to secure his perfect game against the Cubs in 1965.

Krug returned to college, earned his degree, and became a landscape artist after his playing days ended. At least one example of his work has been seen by millions of moviegoers and tourists since---it was Krug who designed the cornfield ballfield made famous in the Kevin Costner film Field of Dreams.
