1949 Leaf Football Cards
The 1949 Leaf Football Card Set includes 49 cards that measure 2 3/8" by 2 7/8" in size. Being the only football card set issued that year, the 1949 Leaf football cards were issued in two different series. The cards contain numbers ranging from #1 to #150. Sold in nickel packs that contained 5 cards and a stick of gum, the 1949 Leaf cards used grey card stock and stated "Copyright 1949" on the backs of the cards.
Unlike the Leaf football card set from the year before, the 1949 Leaf football cards are comprised of strictly professional players,and had no rookie cards of note. The 1949 Leaf football cards used the same exact player images as the 1948 set, and where issued in smaller numbers, probably due to legal battles with the Bowman Gum Co.
