This 1962 Topps Baseball Variation "Green Tint" Complete Set consists of the 86 cards. Included in this set are the Green Tint variations of cards of the 2nd Series, which spans cards #110 through #196. This includes 2 cards with #139. One of Hal Reniff and the "Babe Hits 60" (standing on grass) variation, but does not include card #159, as there is no Green Tint variation for this card.
By the time that Topps realized that the sales of the 1962 Series would surpass expectations, the company printing the cards had moved on to the third series. Topps commissioned a different printer to produce more third series cards from the same printing plates. As result, the pictures on the cards were cropped slightly different and given a green tint. A couple of the printing plates were damaged in transit and had to be replaced, which accounts for why there are two (sometimes very different looking) versions of the cards in the second series.
The 1962 Topps 'Green Tint" cards were printed in smaller numbers when compared to the "regular" second series cards, which makes for a fun challenge for variation collectors. This variation set, along with the 1962 Topps standard complete set, as well as the the variations listed below, will give you a 1962 Topps Master Set.
The only variations that are NOT included in this 1962 Topps variation set are 3 checklists: Cards #22, #441 and #516 - which are variations because there were two of each of these cards on their respective print sheets. These 3 checklists are available in equal numbers, therefore either can be used in the complete set. They can be purchased separately.
