In the on-going competition with Topps, the 1954 Bowman Baseball set was ultimately an attempt to regain market share while cutting costs.  Because of this, several cards were later corrected for errors caused by being rushed so quickly into production.
The 1954 Bowman Baseball set consists of 224 cards total.  The cards were printed and distributed in two series:  cards #1-128 comprise the first series, while #129-224 made up the second.  Each card in the set measures 2 1/2" by 3 3/4" in size, which the front of each card dominated by a player portrait.  A small, pastel box in the lower corner contains the player's signature.
The backs of the cards include a bat and ball graphic, with the card number located inside the ball and the player's name in the bat.  The backs of the cards also feature a trivia question (and its answer), as well as the player's 1953 statistics.
This Near Complete Set / Lot contains no duplicate cards.
