1939 Play Ball series cards were larger in size and featured clearer photographs than its predecessors, features which sparked increased interest in card collectors and subsequent growth in the industry as a whole. The set consists of 161 total cards, each measuring 2 1/2" by 3 1/8" in size--larger than nearly any other tobacco card of the early 20th century.
This 1939 set features the one and only depiction of a rookie Ted Williams.
