The 1953 Bowman Color Baseball set consists of 160 cards, and this set contains cards that have all been graded by PSA, and contains the majority of the cards from this set.
This card set was Bowman's response to the 1952 Topps set and many consider this to be the best looking set in modern times. The card fronts focus only on a large color player photograph. The card backs feature player statistics, a short player biography, as well as statistics. This set also contains the first (and possibly the best) action photo for a baseball set - card #33 Pee Wee Reese.
Unfortunately the sales of this beautiful set did not meet projections and Bowman was forced to release the planned final series with Black & White Photos, instead of using the more expensive color process. Today, these 1953 Bowman Black & White cards are considered a completely different set.
