1949 Bowman PCL

The 1949 Bowman Pacific Coast League (PCL) baseball card set is considered to be one of the scarcest sets of the post-war era.  The cards were marketed in the western States and are believed to have been sold in sheets in variety and candy stores rather than placed inside packages of gum, although no uncut sheets are known to collectors.  Each card measures approximately 2" x 2 1/2" inches.  The front of the card only features the player image in front of a solid color background. This tinted photograph in front of a colored background was the same format used for the 1949 Bowman set.
