This 1969 Topps "White Name" Variation Complete Set consists of 23 baseball cards where the player's last name was printed in white letters, instead of the standard yellow print. These cards were printed in much smaller numbers than the "Yellow Name" variations and the key to building a 1969 Topps Complete Master Set.  All of the 23 White Name Variations were printed in the 5th Series of the 1969 Topps Baseball Card Set, and fall between card numbers 440 and 511.

There were three future Hall-of-Fame players printed with white names:#440 Willie McCovey, #485 Gaylord Perry and #500 Mickey Mantle.  There are also three rookie cards, featuring two players on each card, with both their first and last names printed in white letters.
While the 1969 Topps Baseball Card Set is loaded with many variations, most of the others are printing miscues on the original card, that were discovered and corrected in later print runs.  For this reason, most of these other 1969 Topps variations are readily available, in both variations.  This is not the case for the "White Name " Variation Cards, which are difficult to find any condition, and extremely rare in high grades, because of the centering issues that are common in the 1969 Topps Baseball Card Set.
The 1969 Topps set was one of the company's sloppier offerings, in terms to the number of mistakes, and the set has somewhere between 35 and 50 possible variation cards, depending how particular a collector wants to get.  Many of the so-called errors on the 1969 Topps cards seem to be due to printing flaws, rather than the design of the card itself, and are not considered true variations by most collectors.
All of the 1969 Topps variations can be purchased online separately, from our store.  We did not bother putting together a full 1969 Topps Variation Complete Set, because most of the variations are equally common.
