1949 Bowman Baseball Cards
The 1949 Bowman Baseball Card Set includes 240 cards, that were issued in 7 series. The cards measure 2 1/16" by 2½", but also had tinted coloring.
The 1949 Bowman was the first major post-war baseball issue, an contains minor style changes throughout the various series. Cards #1 to #72 were printed on both grey white card stock, which technically makes them variations. The high number cards, which are a little tougher to find, range from #145 to #240. Six cards were reprinted, in order to fill out the printing sheet of the last series, and are considered variations, since the card style had changed, since the first printing of that player.
The 1949 Bowman set contains 184 rookie cards including Hall-of-Famers: #46 Robin Roberts, #50 Jackie Robinson, #84 Roy Campanella, #100 Gil Hodges, #110 Early Wynn, #214 Richie Ashburn, #224 Satchel Paige, #226 Duke Snider, #233 Larry Doby and #238 Bob Lemon.
