1939-46 Exhibit Salutations
This unique 65-card series features a player photograph. The 1939-46 Exhibit Salutations Baseball Cards contain a personal greeting such as "Sincerely Yours" or "Best Wishes", along with the players name. These large-size cards measure 3 3/8" by 5 3/8", say "MADE IN USA", and have blank backs. Published by the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago, over a span of 46 years, the cards were republished each year, often with substitutions and minor changes. Here is a guide to help date the cards
The Exhibit Salutation Baseball Cards were sold in vending machines, from 1939 to 1946. Being one of the few baseball card sets produced during World War II, the Salutation Exhibits feature some of the war time players, who filled in for the stars who were serving in the armed forces. Once baseball's stars returned home, players such as Harlond Clift and Joe Kuhel were soon out of the game.
