1947 Bond Bread Jackie Robinson Baseball Cards (D302)

The 1947 Bond Bread Jackie Robinson Baseball Card Set (D303) features 13 unnumbered cards of Jackie Robinson and was issued the year that he broke baseball's color barrier.  The 1947 Bond Bread cards of Jackie Robinson each a contain a different black & white image of Robinson, on 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" cards, printed on thin card stock, with squared corners.

The two sets issued by the Bond Bread Co. in 1947, were some of the first baseball cards available after World War II, as the bubble gum companies would not produce cards until the following year.  The 1947 Bond Bread cards were the first to feature Jackie Robinson. This was a bold move by the Bond Bread Co., to use such a controversial player to promote their product, before the integration of baseball was fully accepted, and Jackie Robinson's star power on the field was proven.  The 1947 Bond Bread Jackie Robinson Baseball Cards are scarce and expensive to purchase.
