1962 Salada Plastic Coins
Originally, the 1962 Salada-Junket coin set consisted of 180 coins. However, with the addition of the New York Mets and Houston Colt .45’s to the National League, the set expanded to 265 coins of 221 different players. The plastic coins came in six different colors, coded by team. The coins were distributed in packages of Salada Tea and Junket Pudding mix, and measured 1-3/8” in diameter. Also available were embossed green plastic shields that were capable of holding ten coins each. These coverings could be obtained via mail-in offer.
