The 1955 Ashland/Aetna Oil Basketball card set contains 96 black and white cards of collegiate basketball players, from selected universities in Kentucky and West Virginia. Also known as Aetna Gasoline, the cards measure 2 5/8" by 3 3/4". These cards can feature one of two different backs featuring advertisements for either the Ashland or Aetna oil companies, with cards having the Aetna oil back commanding a premium.
The most sought after card in the 1955 Ashland Oil/Aetna Oil basketball card set is that of Adolph Rupp, the legendary coach of Kentucky.
