1969 Topps Planet of the Apes
Based on the 1968 movie, Topps issued a Planet of the Apes card set a year later in 1969. The 44 card set features photos from the movie in which an American astronaut lands on a planet where apes are the ruling class and humans are the lower of the two primate groups. Interestingly enough, when Tim Burton came out with a newer version of the movie in 2001, Topps once again came out with another Planet of the Apes card set to accompany the release of the film.
