1964 Donruss Combat

The 1964 Donruss Combat Set contains132 cards was based off the hit TV program. Although the captions and writing on the back of the cards have little to do with the picture on the front, the cards tell a complete story, if read in order. The first 66 cards were issued in 1963, and the set was so popular that Donruss issued another 66 cards in 1964.

One problem faced in production of the 1964 Donruss Combat cards was that Donruss only had a license to use images of the regular cast members. Thus if an “extra” was in the photo, his face had to be removed from the card and drawn on by hand. Therefore, many of the cards have a cartoonish look to them.
