1973 O-Pee-Chee Baseball Cards

The 1973 OPC set consists of 660 standard sized cards, and were issued as one series, with no high number cards. The 1973 O-Pee-Chee Baseball Cards are identical to the Topps cards, except for the player biographies, which are in both French as well as English.  The 1973 Topps set has 98 cards that feature action shots of the player.

The League Leaders (#61 to #68) were combined to show the leaders of both leagues on the same card, While adding All-Time Leaders (#1, #471 to #478) , a Playoff Highlight card for each league series (#201 and #202),World Series (#204 to #210) and Boyhood Photos (#341 to#346).

The 1973 Topps Rookie Stars (#601 to #616) sell at a premium.  Each Rookie Stars card has 3 players, that are grouped by position, instead of by team.  With players from 3 different teams, each card now belongs to 3 different team sets.  Further increasing the scarcity and cost was that the rookie cards were issued in the 7th series.  The key 1973 Topps are the Hall-of-Famer Rookie Cards of #174 Goose Gossage and #615 Mike Schmidt.

Grading Note:  It is common for the O-Pee-Chee cards to have centering issues and rough edges - which are more tolerated than with the Topps issues of the same period.
