This 1972 Topps Oakland Athletics or A's Team Set contains the 1972 Topps Athletics baseball cards. This was the team that won the first of 3 World Series in a row, and began the A's Dynasty. Included in the 1972 Oakland A's Team Set are the cards of Hall-of-Fame players: Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers and their lovable Manager, Dick Williams.
Interestingly, 3 of most expensive 1972 Topps Oakland A's baseball cards were Denny McLain and 2 cards of Curt Belfary, which were all from the expensive 7th Series. Both of these guys were traded away, early in the season, and neither were around for the Playoffs or World Series. I would guess one of the reasons that contributes to the scarcity of these cards, was that the kids of day, were so disgusted at finding these guys in their packs of cards, that they pitched them!
These cards are not included in the set, in order to keep the cost reasonable, but can be purchased separately.
