1934-36 Diamond Stars (R327) Baseball Cards
The Diamond Stars Baseball Card Set was produced by National Chicle and has cards with numbers from #1 to #108, even though the standard set is comprised of cards #1 to #96.
The Diamond Stars cards are 2 3/8” by 2 7/8” in size and were issued continuously from 1934 to 1936, which created numerous variations. The variations are usually very minor, due to different copyright dates, or either green or blue print on the back of the cards, or players who were traded or retired. Cards #97 to #108 are copies of cards issued earlier in the set. These short-printed cards were produced in limited numbers and are not generally considered as part of the standard set, because of their extreme scarcity and cost.
Key Hall-of-Famers included in the 1934-36 Diamond Stars Set are: #1 Lefty Grove, #44 Rogers Hornsby, #54 Hank Greenberg, #64 Jimmie Foxx, #99 Pie Traynor, #100 Earl Averill, #103 Bill Dickey and #105 Ernie Lombardi.
