1941 Play Ball (R336) Baseball Cards
The 1941 Play Ball Baseball Card Set consists of 72 cards measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/8". Many of the 1941 Play Ball cards are simply colorized versions of the photos used in the 1940 set.
The 1941 Play Ball Baseball Card Set high number series (#49 to #72) is slightly more difficult and expensive to collect than the first series of 48 cards. While rare, it is possible to find some of these cards that have been printed on thin paper stock as opposed to the traditional cardboard, which were originally used as samples.
Some of the key Hall-of-Famers included in the 1941 Play Ball set are the: #6 Carl Hubbell, #8 Mel Ott, #13 Jimmie Foxx, #14 Ted Williams, #18 Hank Greenberg, #19 Charlie Gehringer, #54 Pee Wee Reese, #70 Bill Dickey and #72 Lefty Gomez.
