1941 Play Ball (R336) Baseball Cards
The 1941 Play Ball Baseball Card Set consists of 72 cards measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/8". Many of the 1941 Play Ball cards are simply colorized versions of the card released by Play Ball in 1940. The card fronts resemble paintings designed from the photo images from the previous Play Ball release.
The 1941 Play Ball Baseball Card Set high number series (49-72) is slightly more difficult and expensive to collect than the first series (1-48). While rare, it is possible to find some of these cards that have been printed on thin paper stock as opposed to the traditional cardboard, which were originally used as samples.
Some of the key Hall-of-Famers included in this issue are the: 1941 Play Ball #6 Carl Hubbell, #8 Mel Ott, #13 Jimmie Foxx, #14 Ted Williams, #18 Hank Greenberg, #19 Charlie Gehringer, #54 Pee Wee Reese, #70 Bill Dickey and #72 Lefty Gomez.
